About OVRCC

The Ohio and Vicinity Regional Council of Carpenters is part of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. The OVRCC oversees union carpenter and our trade autonomy millwright projects for commercial, residential and institutional construction projects throughout all of Ohio and even in four counties of West Virginia.

Led by Executive Secretary-Treasurer Robert Peto, membership is divided among four regions (Northeast, Northwest, Southwest and South Central) and is also served by four Joint Apprenticeship Training Centers — one for each area. Many dedicated men and women serve as business representatives/organizers for each of these areas. These agents are the liaison between the project manager and/or general contractor and the union, making sure that the right skilled professional is placed on each and every job. Equally dedicated office and support staff complement the daily work of the OVRCC.

But it is our members, the men and women who are trained, experienced experts in their craft, who are the heartbeat of the OVRCC. Their “can-do” attitude and their commitment to completing every job on time and on budget is a testament to the work ethic instilled in every OVRCC member.

As a result of this reputation, the OVRCC has available for any customer who wishes, a Customer Bill of Rights, which reads:

CUSTOMER BILL OF RIGHTS

By partnering with the Ohio and Vicinity Regional Council of Carpenters you are partnering with the mostly highly trained and experienced carpenters in Ohio. It’s our job to keep you productive. We take this responsibility seriously, and we’ve created this Customer Bill of Rights to explain what you can and should expect from us.

Professional Union Carpenters Deliver:

  1. Trained, qualified professionals for your job. Union carpenters aren’t dispatched to a job site until they meet the rigorous training standards of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. As a result, you benefit from the UBC’s $100-million-a-year training program, because that commitment to training is reflected in every project done by a union craftsman.
  2. Access to training facilities for both apprenticeship and journeyman-upgrade training. Experienced instructors will guide an apprentice through the skills needed to become a valuable member of your job site, or lead skill-upgrade workshops when new techniques and technologies are needed for your project.
  3. Access to supervisory training. Special programs are available to develop the leadership skills of foremen and superintendents — leadership that translates into productivity.
  4. The work force that you need, when and where you specify. If you need a specialist for one component of a job, or whole-project staffing, we will supply the best-skilled carpenter you need to keep your project on track.
  5. Around-the-clock service. Construction isn’t a 9-to-5 job, and we’re not a 9-to-5 organization. Union representatives provide a 24-hour contact number so that they can help solve problems at your convenience.
  6. Attention and commitment to a safe work force and job site. The Ohio & Vicinity Regional Council of Carpenters insists on training carpenters in OSHA-approved and certified safety programs. Our members are willing participants in a nationally acclaimed job site drug-prevention and testing program. We also train all members of a work site in proper safety techniques if asked.
  7. A great attitude. Ohio contractors and their crews are professionals, and customers are treated with respect. Our job is to not only provide a skilled work force that delivers quality craftsmanship, but also to complete the work with respect for our partners. The leadership of the carpenters union and Construction Employers Association not only demand a professional attitude and responsible work ethic from its members, but also a display of that attitude every day.
  8. Flexible contracts. If you need a special provision to keep you competitive in the Ohio construction industry, we will partner with you to help make it happen.
  9. Specialized craftsmen to meet specialty needs. If you’ve got a project that needs highly specialized skills, we will train our journeymen to make sure they are proficient in that skill. The goal is to keep you productive and competitive, and keeping your work force current in the latest skill is a crucial component to that.
  10. A mobile, productive work force to help meet project deadlines within budget. Leveraging union professionals means accessing a well-populated pool of craftsmen who can staff your project anywhere in Ohio. Reliable craftsmen who produce high-quality work will report to your job site every day.
