About OVRCC

History

The Ohio and Vicinity Regional Council of Carpenters celebrates its birthday on May 17. For, in 2001, that was the day when the leadership of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters recognized the benefit creating the OVRCC would have on the regional construction industry.

To create the OVRCC, the four existing district councils of Northeast, Northwest, South Central and Southwest, as well as the State Council of Carpenters for the State of Ohio were dissolved into one organization known as the Ohio and Vicinity Regional Council of Carpenters.

As part of the restructuring plan, OVRCC is governed by the Uniform District and Regional Council Bylaws. Under those bylaws, an Executive Secretary-Treasurer would oversee operation of the Council; local unions would create representation as delegates to the OVRCC on the following basis: 450 members or less shall be entitled to two delegates, with one additional delegate for each additional 225 members; millwright activity will be coordinated on a statewide basis and the EST shall select one individual to coordinate such activity.

Today, thousands of men and women are members of the OVRCC, and perform excellent work on a daily basis in a variety of crafts, including commercial construction, flooring, millwright, heavy highway, concrete, interior systems, residential, and much more.
