The Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Training Center, located on eight acres in Richfield, Ohio, represents a $4.2 million commitment to quality. In addition to apprentice training, continuing education courses also are offered at the center.
The state-of-the-art center spans 54,000 square feet. It is manned by craftspersons who are excellent instructors in carpentry, millwright, mill cabinetry, pile driving, and floor laying. More than 900 apprentices are enrolled in the program and from 150 to 200 graduate annually. They are exposed to every facet of the trade learning the traditional skills as well as the new technologies associated with modern building.
Journeyman carpenters benefit from the training center as well. Journeyman upgrading classes are offered to all union members year round. This training enables the Regional Council to provide contractors and developers with carpenters who possess the most up-to-date and specialized skills Typical courses include cabinet making, interior systems (drywall, metal studs, floor laying), welding, and blueprint reading. This commitment promises to benefit the entire industry.
